So... What IS Hypnosis, Anyways?

Many of us had the same start in this world of Hypno Erotia.
Now, I don't mean that we all read the same book or saw the same movie, but at some point in our lives, we looked back, went "oh", and things made sense.
Because at some point, we looked back at the things we'd enjoyed in our youth, the things that piqued our interest, and we went "wait, that was foreshadowing".
Because at some point in our lives, we were introduced to the idea of hypnosis/mind control, and it interested us.
It may have started really young. It may have been a book or a cartoon or perhaps even a magic show we attended.
And it stuck with us.
We may not have realized why... or we may have.
But years later, when we finally put the pieces together as to how all of these things that interested us were connected, we said, "Oh."
Because it finally made sense.
We wanted it to be real.
We wanted this fantasy of being controlled (or controlling) to be real.
But... what does "real" mean?
In the case of hypnosis, what is "real"?
Well, what hypnosis really is is a state of altered consciousness and heightened suggestibility.
Okay, sure, every single site about hypnosis says those things. But what does it mean??
It means that when you are listening to/reading a trance, your mind, quite literally, starts to work differently. (1)
Your self-referential thought slows down, and your focus goes up.
Your awareness of the physical space you are in decreases, and your focus jumps up to cover that "space" that your conscious mind is drawing away from.
So... what is hypnosis?
It's a time and place where you can disconnect from times and places.
It's an experience where you can be led to stop existing for a moment, where you can just depend on another person, the hypnotist, to do the thinking for you.
Which can be so very erotic, don't you think?
